Flash 8 coloring tips? 2025-12-24 21:14:44

So ive been trying to color a small animation im working on in flash 8, and for some reason its been such a huge pain to do so. Every time i make a new layer for colors and use the fill tool to try and speed up the process, the part that im trying to color almost never gets filled in. Im obviously aware of the close small, medium, and large gap tools but even those dont even work sometimes when im trying to color. So any tips to try and make coloring in flash 8 more faster and easier, especially with the fill tool?

Just go in outline mode to check if your contours have gaps.

Often a shape drawn with a thicker line might only look closed, but actually have a small gap somewhere.

Clicking on the little layer swatch will let you inspect it properly. With the magnet toggle on you can then very easily join the ends by dragging one of the vertices with the Selection tool and then fill that shape.

Also, make sure you're not working in Object Drawing mode where strokes can be separate objects. In this case, you need to Break Apart those.
