A.O's animation thread 2025-02-06 03:44:48

Yay, I'm finally learning to animate :)

I tried a few years ago , making a Sketchy lineart only animation. I'm currently working on the first one that's over 5 seconds.

In general, I've been watching a few videos and reading up on tips. Also , more closely observing and trying to learn what I can from shows I'm a fan of.

It's been an aspiration of mine to start for a long time. I'd appreciate any feedback and all advice from the more experienced.

This thread is to have a home for the animations I make while learning, and to document the journey.

This first project is a concept I had a few years ago. It’s a work in progress and at this point is just the line art and base colors. Coloring it more is proving to be a very time extensive task. In this I tried two different animating techniques. On the blink I animated on twos, with the in between being a blur. The rest is drawn on ones. 12fps , about 158 frames What do you think so far// any advice?

What do you all use for post-production? I hope I’m using that right. I mean editing, and adding sound. I’m having trouble finding anything relevant. Any recommendations ?

90% there. Starting to feel discouraged but I’ll push through. Also, I need to find a good site for embedding videos. Any recommendations?

Oof, stressful complications and setbacks. The program I use, apparently crashed at some point yesterday, and corrupted my project file. I'm currently attempting to use the playback feature to restore it. I'm not positive it will work. After about 20 minutes it's only at 7 percent , and the device has heated up quite a bit. Fingers crossed it gets to the end.

Has this happened to anyone else? First time for me. But I think this is the push I needed to find a better animation program.

The one I use is more catered to art, and that may be why it struggled.

Update: successfully recovered.

96:27 is the current time I've spent on this. I certainly hope I get faster with practice, since its only 20 seconds long. A little more work to do, but I'm so happy it didn't get lost for good :)

Oh dude you should use programs like Adobe Premiere or Davinci Resolve (Better and Sexier UI imo).

Hey, getting ready to post my first animation but I’m having an issue. When I preview , I see that Ng is auto crop and stretching the video. I had standard size and orientation, but the site is making it look like its vertical, like a phone, and distorting it a lot to stretch it like that. Is there anything I can do?
