This thread is a continuation to my previous thread Hoverboard racing game idea


A new game by me, aapiarts the creator of Painter Blazer.


Introducing:

GlideBoard Slide

Graffiti style, badass racers and wacky weapons.


What is GlideBoard Slide? It's a kart racer mixed with a skateboarding game. Do tricks to get speed boosts, collect money to buy weapons and other items, beat your rivals by finishing the race first or buy eliminating them by other means. But don't let your health drop to zero or else too bad.


GlideBoard Slide pre-alpha footage.


Item ideas so far:

Bricks:

A trap layed behind to get other people to drive to a wall.

Spray paint can:

Short ranged spin attack.

Revolver:

Shoots forward a few shots.

Molotov:

A bomb thrown forward with a lingering fire effect on the ground.

Big fan:

A big fan attached to your back to boost you forward at a high speed.


Other items on the list to be added are a shield item and a high jump item.


So far I've designed only one of the racers.


It's Skim! A rather decent Glideboarder who joins tournaments to kill boredom.

For now the main thing I can't do is music. I can do the code, design and animations myself but I have zero musical skills.

Also this game reminds me a lot of Sonic Riders and also the Sewer Run series to an certain extent, though I wonder how would this game work, along with the cast...

This menu is already 100 timess better than Painter Blazer menus. It has mouse only support and keyboard only support with gamepad support coming later.


I'm very happy with it so far because one of the multiple things I don't like in Paintef Blazer is the menus.

Here is a showcase of the character select screen in GlideBoard Slide. I made it to showcase the quality standard and style of the game plus I wanted to make a way better menu than in my older games and it is much nicer so far. Also the first look at the second playable character, Destiny!


The music for the menus was made by @partybooru so yes now I got help on that part which is awesome since I got no musical skills.

I'm putting GlideBoard Slide's production on hiatus early. What do I mean early? Well I was planning on putting it on hiatus in January because I have to do my military service (law in here Finland) but I just want to not touch it for now. Not because I wouldn't enjoy making it. Far from it. It's still a lot of fun. But rather I wanna focus on other stuff I enjoy more currently like drawing, video editing and seeing my friends more hopefully. I just want to get it off of my mind as this "work on it" thought since I've been working on it a bunch in the past months. That being said there is a chance I'll make something small but neat regarding GBS before January. Not promising though. So yeah GBS will be on hiatus for like 7 months.

Far from it. It's still a lot of fun. But rather I wanna focus on other stuff I enjoy more currently like drawing, video editing and seeing my friends more hopefully. I just want to get it off of my mind as this "work on it" thought since I've been working on it a bunch in the past months. That being said there is a chance I'll make something small but neat regarding GBS before January. Not promising though. So yeah GBS will be on hiatus for like 7 months.

We'll be waiting!! This is turning out to look really dang cool, so I hope you do keep working on it when you get back. Either way, best of luck out there!


Yeah I will continue it because it's a fun project to make for me.
