What are your art goals for 2026?

New Topic Respond to this Topic

Last year I focused mainly on consistency and form/structure/construction (my goal was to draw every other day which I felt like I achieved for the most part) but not enough on rendering. So! This year my goals are:

  1. To draw and color more digital stuff (even if just doodles), along with being consistent
  2. Not strictly an art goal but still! I want to get my game to be in a playable state with working core gameplay

What are your goals this year? Please don’t say nothing or I’ll throw eggs at you, goals are good to have!!

  1. I wanna make more finished pieces! Goal is to have more art portal submissions than last year (which should be easy since I only posted like 3 things to the portal).
  2. I wanna do more collabs/events! I sorta wanna run one too, I have two ideas so we'll see if I do either
  3. I would like to make more traditional digital pieces and improve in that area. I haven't really drawn anything digitally (not including pixel art) in the last year that I've put much effort into and that really sucks. I think for this year I specifically want to work on my coloring and shading since thats been a huge sore spot for me. But in general I would like to work on everything. Also backgrounds. Damn backgrounds!

edit:

I almost forgot but I wanna make an art thread at some point!

And in the end

The love you take

Is equal to

The love you make

YESSSSS niceee these are all great goals!! I feel you on that last one specifically though, I also was way too unbalanced last year and only did traditional so I neglected my coloring/rendering skills lol

I wish you luck!! I hope 2026 goes smoothly

1) Make front page again

2) Finish half of the webcomic script and flesh out the designs I have

3) Redo lessons in drawabox

4) Make at least 3 finished pieces with traditional art

5) Make a new design for my jacket

6) Participate in Art Fight and Inktober again

Copied from my news post

Regarding illustrations in general I want to be able to "pour my mind" a little bit better into paper, not ending up with half finished drawings and stuff, and I often forget details in my sketches which I notice about like 5 hours into the drawing. Then I also want to make a project out of a steampunk world I've been thinking and writing down and sketching for quite a while now, 4 months maybe? I want to turn it into a webcomic or a visual novel, maybe the latter. It's like steampunk mixed with some medieval misery and some western stuff, but the story happens in a small town instead of the big city.

1.Learn how to do 3d figures/character models

2.Experiment with more mixed mediums (resin, paint clay, more paper crafts) ect

3.Make little animations

4.Redo all my oc references before artfight lmao

5.Eventually have the funds, courage, and stock to sell at an artists den at comicon or something of the likes

Ive been feeling quite ambitious since i finished my college project a couple weeks ago, Ive been slowly getting back into the habit of drawing things daily, stepping outside my bounderies bit by bit and taking that leap of faith and actually trying to learn something new, trying not to let my stubbornness get the best of me lol

Being in college and being chastised by my teacher (jokingly lol) has made me realise how nice it feels to be productive again

Ive got rather ambitious goals this year, dunno how many ill be able to actually pull off but...one can dream lol 🌈

AWW that's great though!! I think regardless, it's nice to at least try. You'll know for next time if it doesn't work out, if it does then DANG you just ended up getting a ton done. So either way, everything'll work out!

Indeed lol its been my motto for the last few months "try, its the least you can do." so im currently working on the 3D model, been a bit slow with it but honestly Im getting something that looks functional so far a much better attempt than the last time i ever tried to do this lol so id like to say im making alright progress so far! :D

I have a few overall goals but mostly no idea how I will work towards some of them, as aside from #1 and partly #4 they're kinda tied to my mental health which isn't something I can control.

  1. Continue working at all the usual stuff. Anatomy, perspective, colours, backgrounds, posing, composition, those are my big issues. Posing is tied to the next goal in an annoying way, otherwise this is basically an automatic win because of course I'm going to get better at those from working lol.
  2. Be less indecisive. So many of my ideas die because I can't decide what I want to do with them or how to execute those goals, mainly when I am thinking about posing but occasionally it's a composition or costume design thing.
  3. More art. Last year I uploaded 17 finished pieces, I'd like to do a lot more than that in 2026 and I am already off to a good start since I am not starting this year having to clean up after a tragedy lol. My limiting factor is usually that I lose the drive to pick up a new idea after I've finished the previous one.
  4. I want to work on new material, whether that's fan art, new worldbuilding/writing projects, or completely unique pieces not dedicated to anything in particular. I've been drawing the same settings for years and the one I come back to the most isn't even the one I want to work on, so I'd like to take back control and stop drawing cyberpunk military girls for five seconds, lmao. (I am drawing one right now, someone arrest me)
  5. More NSFW art. Mood swings always kick my ass to where I can't stay motivated on sexual content for multiple days consecutively.

And these are more like stretch goals, I won't really be disappointed if I never get to them as long as I manage to get something else done.

  1. I'd like to try low-poly 3D art because it's cute and would open the door for some other projects revolving around game mods.
  2. I want to work on animated pixel art. A whole character animation is probably too much for me because that's like doing 10 drawings in one, but a simple animated landscape scene to learn the tools is totally achievable, I just haven't found an environment that really inspires me to finish drawing it in the first place lol. Or maybe I could start putting little animated details in all my character portraits.

Nicee I hope it goes well! Tbh I feel like sometimes it takes a few attempts for it to click. I had that happen for other hobbies, and suddenly the third attempt it all comes together and I'm actually making stuff LOL

My goal at 1st is to make my workspace feel much more inviting to do anything creative. After that, I just want to get back into drawing. I have so much rust built up. I'm rather excited about that since I animated my 1st paper animation 1½ years ago which forced me to flip paper to see the motion etc, so when I animated digitally after a little bit, that flipping kinda stayed in my muscle memory. I want to keep that up and be a better frame-by-frame animator than before.

I have the exact same goals basically... I also wanna get better at animating, specifically for my game since I realized just recently how tough it is. Also anatomy. I never really studied anatomy, I just kind of rawdogged everything. I'm sure I'll be better with a bit of studying.

Happy new year :) and good luck to you regarding your goals

  • First and foremost, keep doing it.
  • Continue hopping onto collabs I like the sound of.
  • Ray. More Ray. Ray the day away if need be.
  • Host some collabs I've been brainstorming.
  • Don't be last-minute.

Sounds like a plan.

Happy new year!! I hope everything goes well, anatomy imo isn't too bad! Just need a lot of figure or gesture drawings, imo it's a matter of getting the feel for believable anatomy vs completely accurate realistic anatomy. BUT that's another can of worms, either way I bet you'll do great and will see a ton of improvement after doing those studies

Happy new year :) and good luck to you regarding your goals

Good luck to you too, and your game!

Nah but that's fair! It's not for everyone to have goals set up this way, BUT not all goals necessarily need to be structured like this. Even if it's something small and general like "I want to have more fun with art", I think it's good to have at least some kind of goal to work towards

  1. Finish 5 more tarot cards. I have about 11/22 of the major arcana done, so I'm aiming to have this side project finished by the end of 2027
  2. Do more studies, but specifically studies on shoulders. It's a part of the body that I weirdly super struggle with, so I would love to get more comfortable with drawing them
  3. Do figure drawing sessions at least once a month. I'm gonna try and rope my roommate into this one with me haha

Historically I also had "do X number of attacks on art fight" on my list, but this year I want to focus on my bookmarks and drawing characters I'm super interested in, rather than hitting an arbitrary number of attacks.

I tried this goal last year and failed so I’m gonna try again.

Have an appealing and consistent art style and try out new poses and get better with pose construction.

Tbh tho.

Once a week I'll upload single drawing, not everyday, since I'm doing something else, especially voices etc.

Then switch my drawing software to Garry's Mod and make some art. (I'm not uploading some gmod art on NG, like it's not worth it (for me))

Just a simple signature text, this signature not contains animated picture. I don't have a money to buy NG Supporter.
