I just downloaded swivel to test it on my arch linux and I converted an swf file successfully.

Dunno if you have set up wine on your linux yet, but yea, go check some tutorials on how to setup wine for most windows tasks, and after that download the swivel installer exe. I used the installer exe with no problems, and after that swivel worked just fine.

Wine is a good thing to get right on linux. Also you might like to have this site in use often https://alternativeto.net/ good for finding linux alternatives for anything you used in windows. It might become quite a rabbithole if you stay there too long :D

Why though?

Swivel isn't animation software, unless you mean you need it convert files from flash/animate which don't work on linux either as far as I can tell...

When looking stuff about wine, I've gotten my stuff working when tutorials talk about an additional program "winetricks", and how with that you choose stuff that will make windows games to work. When I got all that set up, a lot of windows stuff just works. It's a hit or miss tho. Tho swivel was a hit.

If wine stuff becomes too hard, you could also look into "bottles". I've not used that program a whole lot, but people swear by it, and the less I see anything about playonlinux, the more I see about bottles. I think playonlinux might've become somewhat obsolete (Some forum post also says it's depricated), especially since the last news post in their website was on 2022. So yea, look into bottles as well. It might yield better experience than wine with winetricks 🤷‍♂️ but I can only vouch for wine with winetricks in this situation since I got it working that way.
