Looking for trans masc voice actor

I'm working on a pseudo visual novel for my characters and the first one I'm working on is a clown guy who's homeless, here's the preview:

It'd be cool to get a voice over even for the comics I make of my characters since I'm still working on the pilot

Requirements:

  • MUST be black voice actor (wanna give more opportunities to VA's of color)
  • MUST be a trans masc individual (the character is on testosterone but still early on where his voice might be a bit clocky)
  • Must be a legal adult, so 18+ because of the nature of the story

Preferences:

  • Have a higher pitched tenor voice, would be even better if you have a wider range
  • Would prefer to have a lisp since he has an overbite
  • Have the ability to sing, the listing here is just for voice overs but if you can sing it might even be held for the pilot / show since it'll be a musical which is where the PAID VA work comes in

As above, so below

Not to be rude, but just purely in terms of odds/statistics, it's incredibly unlikely that theres a single person on this va forum that fits your request. This voice acting forum is pretty slow tbh, not as many people here as you seem to think.

About 0.8% of people are trans. About 30% of those are trans masc. This number goes down considerably when you exclude those under 18. About 1 percent of people have a lisp in adulthood. The percentage of black population in English speaking nations tends to be between 4% and 15% depending on which nation. Let's call it 10% overall since any English speaker can see this forum from anywhere.

30 percent of 0.8 is 0.24. to find the approximate odds, we can multiply these seperate values.

If you do, you'll find there's about a 1 in 4166.7 chance that any given person may fit your description. And that's only to find one audition. Double it to find 2, etc. the odds that 4166 people see this post are very low.

Realistically, you'll have to open up your criteria (if we all looked and sounded exactly like the characters we play, it wouldn't be acting would it?), or find a way to get your casting call in front of way way way more people to find what you're currently asking. I didn't even factor in the singing part, which by itself eliminates a lot of potential candidates.

Good luck, regardless.

I understand what you're saying but I'll keep it this way. I can always look somewhere else ;03

I would just lie about being all that if there was money to be made

Have you put up your call on different sites? I think there are plenty of VAs that can fit under this, but probably they're on different sites! Best of luck, looking forward to seeing how your project turns out!

Which sites would be good for this? I worry because it'd be not paying since I have no money

I think as long as you are transparent that the project isn't paid, there's still a lot of people who'd love to work on this if they can! Twitter, Instagram, Casting Call Club get a lot of hits from what I noticed. You can also cross post on existing socials you have and see what hits you get. I guess be careful to not be overwhelmed if you go that approach.

I'm sure though there might be a few VAs that may turn up on this thread as well too.

I saw that you also put voice claims as well for this character and your other characters on your YouTube, so that's also super helpful for a VA to see!

If you ever end up needing help with background character voices, or in need of a Filipinx non binary voice, feel free to hit me up! (No pressure whatsoever!!!)

I dig the designs on these characters and the vibe! I can see a lot of fellow queer poc vas would love to try out for Emil and everyone else!! I am adding the comic to my reading list! Good luck!

Rq, do you have any voice demos? You can try out for Laya if you want since Iintend her to be Filipino coded

I do!! My Animation Demo is on my profile, if you click the link for my Actors Access page, then in Media.

That’s cool to hear!! I was looking at Laya and debating actually!!

I have a lower, raspier voice that’s not on my demo that I can try for Laya if you had some lines I could read for! I will definitely try a couple other different takes in general.

Feel free to DM me, or I can message you when I’m back from work.

Thanks for the opportunity to audition!!
