Big playlist update today! If you experience bugs, PM me and explain what is going wrong, with steps to recreate the issue if possible. Please include your browser and OS information.
First off, to add an item to a playlist, click the playlist button in the header of a movie, game, art, audio or playlist page:

This will open a box with two options: a dropdown of recent playlists (if you have some) and a text field where you can search your playlists or enter the name of a new playlist. This box will now auto-suggest existing playlists and will confirm your selection before adding the item to the playlist, whether it’s a new or existing list.
New Options
Via the Playlist edit form, you now have several new options.
Sorting Options - If everything in your list is the same content type, you will now see the option to auto-sort by score, ideal for events and contests. The default is still manual sorting.
Type - You can now specify Playlist, Album, Collection or Series. This is largely semantic but it will specify how your page is branded and what listing it shows up under.
Visibility - Supporters have the option to make their list Private or Unlisted. An Unlisted list can still be viewed by the public via a link, it just doesn’t show up in our listings. A Private list can only be viewed by the list owner.
Tags - You can now tag your list. A music album might want to include genre tags, for example.
Tiered Lists - You can now designate a list as a child of another list, like an item in a folder. For example if you host an annual event, you might want to make each year a child list. Examples include “Holidays / Halloween / Halloween 2023” and “Game Jams / Ludum Dare / Ludum Dare 46.”
Playlists in Playlists - You can now add a playlist to a playlist, useful when assembling tiered lists.
New Listings
This new functionality has allowed us to migrate the existing Series and Collections pages into the Playlist system. There are now individual hubs for Playlists, Albums, Collections and Series.
To keep things more tidy, each playlist now has an “Official” value that is either set by staff, or set automatically if everything in the list belongs to the list owner.
For example, a Sublo & Tangy Mustard series page owned by @Aaron-Long automatically becomes the Official series page, where if someone else made a list of episodes, it would not have Official designation.
If something is part of an Official list, that list will appear with a thumbnail on the individual content pages, in the same spot where Collections and Series were previously highlighted. Salad Fingers episodes link to the Salad Fingers series page and now a song can link to its official album page.
Unofficial lists will also be linked from content pages via a “Featured in (total) Lists” link, which opens a box to browse the lists. If you’re enjoying something, you might now see it was included in several lists and can explore those lists to find more good stuff! Previously you could discover movies, games, art and audio via lists but couldn’t discover lists via movies, games, art and audio.

Note: You will see these links on some pages but others will still be cached for a bit so give it some time before they are appearing everywhere.
New Search
You can now search for playlists! Our search page has added all four categories, which is maybe overkill.
New URLs
Old playlist URLs will still work but we’ve updated the formatting to make the URLs read better. We’ve also made sure all the old collection and series page URLs continue to work.
Closing Remarks
Everyone thank @liljim for all the work on this! There will be some rough edges and bugs getting smoothened out and we have plans to spruce up the entire playlist front-end down the road.
Josh is still fixing a bunch of stuff related to the Art Portal update, too! Everyone is in fixit mode after these two big releases so pardon the dust.
I'd like to emphasize we need a lot more Supporters! If you enjoy NG and can spare three bucks a month, please consider.
