New Keyboard Shortcuts & Mewgenics Trailer 2025-04-07 11:42:55 (edited 2025-04-07 15:39:10)

@PsychoGoldfish just rolled out some new keyboard shortcuts!


Audio Keyboard Shortcuts


When using the in-page audio player, you can now jump between songs with the left and right arrow keys. 


This was already a feature for our in-page video player, if you weren’t aware.


While a song is playing, you can now use the 0-9 keys to jump between different parts of the song. This is also an existing feature in our video player.


If you were invited to vote for the Best of March, you can use these shortcuts while browsing the nominees!


Art Keyboard Shortcuts


When viewing a multi-page gallery, you can now toggle between pages with the < and > keys. This previously worked when in fullscreen mode but should now work everywhere else. You can try it here:



We use < and > instead of the arrow keys because ultimately we want you to be able to use the arrow keys to toggle between art projects, similar to what you can do on the monthly voting page for art. You can also use < and > to go frame by frame on videos.


These have been added to our Keyboard Shortcuts page in the wiki, if you ever need a refresher!

The shortcuts for Comics does not work for me.

I've tried it in Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Brave.


However, the shortcuts for moving around in audios do work for me.

This seems unlikely since you've tried it in so many browsers but can you try holding Shift+Refresh on the page?


And to confirm, you are using the "<" and ">" keys and not the arrow keys?

I was so excited to watch the trailer pop up on YouTube ^o^ Been watching the progress for Mewgenics over on Twitter, it looks like it'll be fun ^-^

its funny cause the page swapping doesn't work with holding shift and hitting < and > but does work when you hit , and . (comma and period) which are the unmodified keys.


May be confusing for others or maybe I'm dumb

I'm actually surprised that the left or right arrow keys are not used for rewinding or fast forwarding videos/audios on Newgrounds (and instead used for jumping to the previous or next video/audio). You know, everyone (including ME!) expects to rewind/fast forward by using these keys when they watch YouTube, so I don't get why NG's video/audio player can't do the same.

If you've engaged with the audio scrubber, using the arrow keys will then move it forward and back, although maybe not as fast as people would want. Will look into revisiting that.
