I think people get it mixed up on honest critique and being a total cunt about it. If all you can say is "Fuck you, you suck at this and you also suck at life. Stop breathing.", it doesn't have to be exactly as worded. But people tend to use that as a shield to be allowed to be a complete cunt about it. I wasn't here for the wild west newgrounds, but I would imagine that the ratio of internet tough guys vs those just being honest, the honest ones far outnumbered the internet tough guys.

People posting unhelpful rude stuff thinking they're just being honest, and people overreacting to reasonable, negative criticism. The ideal is in the middle where people are honest but not needlessly mean, and their critiques are taken as useful feedback rather than attacks.

Tom, I'm glad you had some laughs! I hope it wasn't too much discomfort. To put this in perspective, the Zeen was a collab organized and made over a single weekend by a few friends. It wasn't an organized hate piece, it was meant to be a funny thing to read that satirized some Newgrounds culture and people. I was pleasantly surprised by the reception, I am glad most people understood it as that and had a good time.
