Reminds me of double dragon. But I think you should increase the default walk speed to what the run speed is because it is just too slow.

There might be some nasty bugs, but I'll fix them as as fast as I can!

Controls:
WASD - Move
Double Tap - Run
I - Punch
O - Jump
P - Interact
Combat Moves:
Approach an enemy and press P to grab.
Finisher - Jump and press P in the air over a downed enemy

You can also donwnload it on itch.io (supports Xbox gamepads)

Thanks!
The spritework is sweet and I'm a big fan of having your character become stronger over time, but the clunkiness and bugs really make it difficult to play this demo to its entirety!
I think the most notable one is that your punch seems to be kind of disabled if you mixup punching combos and turning in some way, and it's ever only reenabled when you take a hit. Very game breaking!
I'm not a big fan of reviving with little health either. It incentivizes learning to not get hit but it doesn't make for a very fun experience... Sincerely I would prefer losing level progress over losing most of my health, as I'd prefer wasting time doing well in fighting enemies than wasting time having to walk over where I need to go over and over again.
Lastly, when meeting the "Boss", I'm not sure how it happened, but if I am to assume the yellow bar is his HP, I somehow defeated him as soon as punching him a third time, the bar didn't change, and the game softlocked!
Little health respawn is a leftover from early "River City like" shopping system, in that way you were supposed to buy food and other things to restore and increase stats, but it didn't make it, sadly. Other gamebreaking bugs may have been caused by old Direct3d which messed up everything and made it soft-lock on random occasions, but it's fixed now, just've beated the boss myself. Thanks!
Fun game! I love the NES aesthetic and the music. Good job!
Thank you!
