Windan was our first game together as a team, we made it six months ago for a game jam (which we won). So we wanted to share this game here

WinDan is an adventure narrative game where you control Delion, a little dandelion that flies through a city, once populated and full of life, but now barren and empty

CONTROLS:

Arrow keys/WASD/Left joystick: Move

Z/Cross/L1: Jump and fly

X/Circle/R1: Blow wind

Hmm, pretty neat adventure game! The vibes, environment and general art and animation do a good job at conveying a sense of fluidity, style and mystique, and the gameplay has some nice movement and puzzle mechanics which it uses to create a decent variety of stages to go through: it all makes for a nice short and sweet journey which I enjoyed going through!

A few bits I noted for feedback:

*Flight mechanics were a bit awkward at times to control in terms of turning and collision detection, as well as with how unintuitive it could be to start flying to the right immediately instead of upwards, considering you are jumping.

*I feel like the vibes were a bit inconsistent. At first it starts of all mysterious and kinda open and exploratory, but then later on it turns into a very video game-y obstacle course and that sense of exploring a natural world is lost. Furthermore, the sense of mystery is lost as the final stage introduces text that blatantly tells you the story and themes instead of letting you piece it together from what you can deduce yourself. I suppose you could argue it makes for good novelty through variety, but I dunno.

I liked this a lot actually! It reminded me a lot of sky children of the light and journey. My only gripe is that the jump is off sync from when you actually press the button so its hard to judge when you are actually jumping, but other than that a very enjoyable experience!

very very nice. the art is really charming and the music is good and makes for a real nice vibe. the sound is also really fun, I liked hitting the purple push ring things sequentially.
It does have a couple issues that prevent me from giving it 5 stars I think. The flying feels a little jank at first but its nice once you are used to it. I really don't think I had enough time to get used to it by the time I had to complete the 5 music note level though, which requires flying through lots of tight tunnels. I found that area a little harder than I think was intended.
The on ground movement feels TERRIBLE though. The jump is delayed by several frames, and landing on the ground plays a landing animation. During the animation you are not allowed to jump again nor move horizontally at all. You also can't use your propeller power. This made the game feel really unresponsive when on the ground.
I do think the game's art sometimes doesn't properly communicate the actual level geometry. When I first opened the game in the first room, I thought it was a top down rpg, not a platformer lol. Right at the beginning of the end cutscene, I didn't realize I was supposed to hold right and walk up the stairs, I thought the stairs were blocks I was supposed to jump on, and since the cutscene takes your ability to jump away, I thought the game was bugged for a moment.
I also think the game window is just too small, had to zoom in the web browser to experience the art ! ( did some math, try going into the newgrounds project settings and changing embed size to 832px by 468px, trust ! )
I think this game is pretty cool though and I'm looking forward to more games from yall!

RufusErikkson responds:

Awesome thanks for the advice, will change the embed resolution, sorry about that

ElWils responds:

thanks a lot for the feedback!

Nice little game. The level design is amazing, the music is great too!

I got stuck when I reached a room with a pinwheel and some music notes. I could face left or right, but I couldn't move or jump or blow
