it amazes me that there aren't more youtubers on my feed complaining about this.

Are they that short sighted? Sure, if your vids are age restricted they lose rev so short term who cares. Do they think they'll get a monopoly on who ever gets categorized as a minor?

A lot of these people I follow can't claim ignorance on this it's their job. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until the 11th hour since they have no control ultimately.

I feel like only really tech savvy folks are even talking about this. And so many people are fatigued by corporate ass reaming that its hard to drum up passion for it. Either that or they're afraid to speak up, which is also understandable if this is your livelihood.

I'm mostly disappointed in the ones that delve into political issues. They're all covering the crap in the united kingdom but this isn't news worthy? Some of these guys were around during the adpocolypse and they bitched up a storm then.

Tip: if you still want to watch youtube, then you can use the FreeTube app. It's just youtubr but it has no ads and no tracking and no account, and you can download videos as well there.

I've been boycotting Youtube (well, cutting myself off it would be more accurate) since two months ago. Bad recommendations caused by not keeping any history anymore (thus cutting on the doxxing via video history) did that to me.

Aaanyway. If youtube AI detects you are a kid for ungodly reason such as watching swearless content or cartoons or even video game news (like, it detects you as under 13, not teen/adult), would that ban your account? Or that would also necessitate an ID / credit card verification.

As others said though, we'll see what happens, then draw conclusions based on that.

I'm... pretty silly ya' know...

I just started recording YouTube videos on my phone screen to watch them in my gallery without having to use YouTube. Is that a good strategy or not?

EDIT: As for what I'm going to do, I'm just going to play most of the demos I downloaded on my Switch and basically replay the Bioshock games whilst waiting for my mother's laptop which she is planning on replacing so I can do emulation, play Steam games,and hopefully make use of my drawing tablet because it doesn't work for my Chromebook.

I've already made peace with the fact that I'll quit YouTube

of course, I'll still watch it here and there because I won't find that specific content anywhere else, and I use it for background music when I'm working on stuff... but in terms of actually making content? yeahhhhh I don't think so

I've been enjoying NewGrounds a whole lot more anyway, I'll just start focusing on making more content here lol

plus, I have been overall improving my life, adding more stuff to do that isn't on a screen

for one, I've been working out more and I've already seen some improvements

I wasn't able to lift a 25 pound weight before but now I can do it just fine

(I also have a legit LIBRARY of manga in my bedroom so I've got enough content to consume if the internet hits the fan lol)

I’m sympathetic to the heart behind this but sadly I don’t think there’s any good alternative to YouTube which makes it tough to boycott. You could find other things to do tomorrow other than watching videos though

I agree that’s fucking stupid! Some users have been changing their profile pics on YT to that of Clippy. (Myself included, and even my brother). To send some sort of Anti A.I. Rebellion message to them. There was even a video on the site telling users to change their picture to Clippy. Because unlike today’s stupid A.I. crap quote the video “Clippy was trying to help”. (Even if he was annoying). That’s why I uploaded what will probably be my last two videos on YouTube for a while yesterday because of this crap. If you wish to check out my YouTube channel feel free to do so. Hopefully sooner than later I’ll be able to change my picture back.
