I find it much easier to draw and more fun, if I'm simply not at all emotionally attached to what I make. I don't mean I don't try and accept garbage, but I can toss it out more easily and more easily accept a bad drawing happened.

I feel this too where sometimes you have to be comfortable making stuff that you don't intend on finishing and that's just there to try out ideas you've been having

Otherwise the perfectionist takes over and I end up not starting anything if i'm not serious about seeing it through

I'm honestly glad I'm currently right now writing a checklist of what to learn. It gets easy to be overwhelmed and I'm realizing there's only about 7-8 core fundamentals with a bunch of subcategories in each primary one. It makes learning easier and less stressful.

I've tried to write a checklist before, but gave up being overwhelmed how to organize it.

Good luck :)

Nah, this is a cube jail out of my own creation.

I've made my exit out of cube jail but I'd gladly make another offering lol

Fell off a skateboard, injured my arm/wrist...

Gotta see what the doctor says, but I can't draw for at least a few weeks it seems.

Kid named "being an apprentice to Domenico Ghirlandaio":

I know you're joking but the main reason DrawABox is oft-recommended is because it's free, not because it has exclusive information you can't get from anywhere else. Not dissing it though; I'm very appreciative that such a resource is free of charge

I love seeing fellow Touhou fans out in the world!!

Every time I see Mokou's in-game picture my brain goes "My God, jelly doughnuts are so scary"

I need to look up Drawabox. I've seen it mentioned quite a bit before but I haven't looked into it yet... but I hear it is useful.

Thanks a lot!

The update is nothing is broken, but I have to wear a sling for 2 weeks minimum while the damage heals.

Even holding a pencil hurts!

Take it easy! Its rough not being able to do much in the meantime but its worth it not to mess up your arm in the long run

I got some bad falls while skating also and now pad up liberally when I go out

Good advice! I used to use pads all the time (i know how clumsy I am) but the one time I don't is the one time I fall badly.

It was my first time skating in like...10+ years? So i should have expected as much would happen lol

I have a stupid question.

How does one gift art to somebody in newgrounds through the upload thing?

Saw some pieces where it @ and says gift for.

Currently working on something that calls for it when it's finished.

Yeah I think if you're uploading to the Portal the main way would be to just @ them in the post. Maybe surprise them with a CoAuthor on it, and tag them as "Inspiration" or something.

@Dolorious

Not stupid, also here's how

iu_1391231_6725762.webp

go to user and credits, make a credit only role, and in the list, pick gift for.

About a week after my arm injury;

Still can't write/draw without pain. But I can finally hold a book to read and play (some) video games without hurting myself!

I wonder what the best way to ween myself back into drawing will be? I'm going to be so rusty when I can work again...
