Created for Pixel Day 2022 over the course of three months. Olive's Art-Venture is a
spell-slinging arena and mobbing game. Use the paper on the right side of the screen
to draw shapes which then cast spells, damaging enemies and protecting you.
Every level introduces a new enemy as you attempt to make your way to the top floor and
kick whoever's butt built this crazy place!

amazing game, i played with mouse, its not hard
Played with a drawing tablet. It's a fun enough gameplay loop, so you got the hardest part down! Great catchy music too. Projectile speed is perfect, & loose coins being collected is a good 'floor clear' indication. I only got as far as floor 7 though, and lost the want to keep trying after that. I won't fault having to draw near the edge of my tablet instead of in the center, cuz that could technically be solved on my end by re-calibrating my tablet.
feedback:
- Restarting in 1 hit feels harsh, not cuz it's 1 hit, but cuz it feels like it takes 15ish+ minutes getting back to where you died. Maybe if you clear floor 4 of 8, you can choose to start at floor 5, but at the cost of something temporary (like more enemies/less coins)?
- The tutorial dialogue could use a speed up button/be controllable with the spacebar, and the 'talking sound effect' could be a bit louder (I sometimes didn't notice it progressing).
- The arrows popping up on the last wave are super helpful; I just wish there was a setting to have them always there, they help with strategy.
- I wish there was a minimap, so you don't accidentally corner yourself.
*- Most of the time, I couldn't cast spells because my drawing was "too small", but I was in the lines :( (might just be me tho)
**- The # of coins + the time window needed for fever (which I assume is shown by the red bar in the top right) is unclear. Sometimes I'll think I collected just enough, but no fever triggered.
***- It was really hard to read the 'back panel' to know if you have enough ink mana (I don't even know for sure what the back panel is). I found it way more reliable to glance at the ink mana meter, so what if colored indication lines were added to that? e.g., yellow one would be at the end of the ink mana meter cuz you need full mana to cast it
I know I have a lot to say, and this game is from 2022, but I still enjoyed it :]
Five years ago I saw the tralier for this game, but I never played it... until now.
the game is great but it would be better if the drawing pad had the option to be on the left side of the screen
i like de idea
