A lot of those channels are just trying to game the algorithm by uploading multiple videos of the same topic. Or sometimes word it differently to give you the illusion of choice when in reality it just tells you to draw boxes every day and fuck off.

Has anyone seen that one video on Chinese color theory that I think has been making rounds? Fine advice because everything in that video is not even exclusive used in China. Pretty much everyone has been using them for years.

or should I make it a "strip" where you scroll through each collage... hmmmm

my photo editor only allows 3 daily saves... the collab would already be out if I could do more than three lol
(if your part of the project... you can preview it and see 3 of the collages already 🤫)

I think it would look better in the ‘Gallery’ format. I’m guessing the images are quite large, so that way you can fit as many characters on the screen as possible right? Maybe the other format makes the images look a bit squeezed so they fit in the post, which I don’t think would look very good, i'm not sure tho

the images are all the same landscape size... strip does look pretty good but gallery is also cool.... this is why I'm asking people for their opinions.

both options are good

Normally I prefer gallery but this case, if you want everyone's works displayed at once, strip is fine

Response to: Roblox Now Requires Age Verification Posted November 20th, 2025 in Video Games

It was going to happen eventually. Unfortunately I'm not surprised roblox did this if they were legally required to implement it like this site was. I can only be mad at the governments that pass those laws.

Emphasis on "if". To my little knowledge, Roblox has been in some hot water lately.

The only way to stop this is to not go after the websites affected (Not completely anyway) but focus on the governments who push these authoritarian laws instead. They're at fault for making everyone turn to these sketchy verification sites instead of taking the easy route and telling parents to stop neglecting their children. We probably don't even need special metadata tags or device based age verification if the government put more responsibility for protecting children on parents and not corporations that are going to fuck it up.

You see, GTA6 contains a mission where you uncover evidence that George Bush, the shapeshifting master of darkness, was the one who unleashed an unspeakable evil on a distant land. America covered it up by creating the propaganda cartoon, Samurai Jack to fool the sheeple into believing it was a demon named Aku. This is why the 5G towers exist. It's to brainwash the masses to not cross the Ice Wall and climb under our earth. Those who do climb ususally get shot by Ice King's double barrel shotgun anyway because he's in cahoots with the government to hide the truth. But reportedly, if you pass, you'll find GTA 6 and where Tom Fulp keeps Nightmare Cops

Tricky. I know Spiderverse used AI for the lonework affect to achieve the comic book look and overlayed the lines onto the character models. Then the animators would correct the lines. Here, they were trying to achieve a painterly look. While AI purely as a tool rather then to generate computer made art is somewhat controversial, people are less annoyed by that because theres still a human effort in it.

But that animation you brought up (I'm going off the animation itself, not the process as I'm currently in a hurry) looks very slapdash. Like they modeled everyone and told the AI to put paint strokes onto it and called it a day. It ends up looking like those Instagram artwork where everything looks well defined except for the eyes which looks blurry. If they are going back in and correcting the AI, they aren't doing it enough.

Well, you're the man of the house

This movie was clearly made by a younger artist where English isn't their first language. The ideal review for something like this would be to encourage the author to not lean on AI. Point out that the AI art flourishes like the burger logos weren't necessary, that they should look for voice actors here on NG and even try reaching out to some musicians.

With modern social media pushing perfectionism on everything like old media of before thanks to the algorithm and the toxic side of those sites. I'm worried we're going to see more cases of younger artists using AI just to gain a following if they aren't already discouraged. What do you think?

Response to: something in a retro game that pisses you off? Posted October 18th, 2025 in Video Games

2000s games had way to many gimmicks that sometimes result in them being unplayable unless you were there or have the peripherals which could be super expensive. Nintendo's gimmicky consoles in the latter half, Wii and DS games are hard to port without major changes that could potentially negatively affect the gameplay.

Anything locked behind the internet pisses me off because some of my childhood games have have completely inaccessible sections. Mario Kart Wii had a mission mode, too bad N WiFi is down since 2014 making the mode inaccessible without a patch.

I think it's worth noting that as of recently, more and more schools are encouraging students to utilize generative AI tools, whether in just standard elementary/high school or specialized courses. Maybe this would be a good opportunity to discuss what we could do to encourage this upcoming generation of artists to ditch AI tools and rely more on collaborating with fellow other artists or learn the actual process!

My solutions are probably generic but:

  1. The education system needs to change so kids can learn how to apply their knowledge and creativity in the real world rather than regurgitate it to sound smart.
  2. Destigmatize criticism and teach people how to differentiate helpful vs unhelpful. Helpful will always have a suggestion on how to do things differently, warn about common mistakes, and even point out what you're doing well.
  3. Make people more comfortable about imperfection. Man made works will never be perfect because we're apart of nature. If someone makes something that isn't good, simply direct them to resources where they can learn or suggest how they can improve in the future. Getting rid of algorithmic curation will help with this.
  4. Make people more comfortable with working within their limitations if they can't get help.
  5. Spread awareness about the corruption of the tech industry. AI stealing human work and making media more lazy is a product of said corruption.

Some thoughts on schools telling kids to use AI:

My personal experience isn't exactly the same as the younger generation because I was born in the early 2000s where the main issue in my generation's schools saw was the over reliance on the internet making it easier for kids to cheat and plagiarize. But the main cause is universal to all ages. Schools don't teach a work ethic, critical thinking, or creativity, they just teach people how to regurgitate knowledge. Reason why kids typically hate school is because the system doesn't care about their development and in some cases damages it. I've seen a few people criticizing how reading tests actually make kids avoid reading because they associate it with work. Stifling their literacy development and is probably the main issue for this literacy crisis I keep hearing about. And if any of those kids fail to regurgitate. They're rejected.

So seeing schools telling kids to use AI is simply them going mask off. It's not about teaching kids adulting and/or to use their skills and creativity in the real world. It's only about the grades.

Then you got how the the internet over the past 10 years have been getting more unfriendly to those who aren't pros. I'm not saying criticism is bad. I wholeheartedly support the blam system and believe we as a community need higher standards.

The problem is when user submitted entertainment sites (YouTube specifically) create algorithms that only allows people with the time, money, and resources to create professional grade media and spit them out at a fast rate while quickly garnering millions in a short time. It discourages those who aren't skilled yet and the underprivileged.

And now that the younger generation is being told to use AI, they're probably not gonna know how to use their creativity because their school and the entertainment sites they're on wants them to become a cog in the machine.

Now that's not what I think is the reason why the creator of that video used AI. Only they can give the true reason. But I'm worried this will become a common reason as the younger generation gets older.

This movie still does have human effort involved in certain aspects but if someone used this method to submit frequent movies it would feel like shovelware to me.

It does have some human effort. But it is still over-reliant. Not to mention, the AI stuff is trying to copy Eddworld. AI can be used to assist but I disagree with allowing works using AI generated media on the portal as that can result in a slippery slope where people start pushing the boundaries. Not to mention the ethical implications of it.

Especially since pro-ai users will point out the exceptions from the past as to why they think they're justified.

That's just my two cents.

And as @Jojo said: people here would be fine with an outright ban.

Homestuck is probably the last BIG webcomic and that was 2009. And the medium was quickly taken over and basically killed by a legion of relatable gag-a-day comics or comics about how quirky the author was in the mid to late 2010s. And that was after people stopped copying Penny Arcade in the 2000s.

So the only real chance for that happening is this site's emerging webcomic community or the ones on ComicFury.

Hoo boy. I remember looking for fanart of a specific goth webcomic I like and I had to sift through so much ai shit. Shame too, Deviantart does have some genuinely talented artists (Especially before the 2010s softcore fetish porn era) and holds just as much significance in internet art history as this site. But now it's pushing whoever's left away by embracing something the art community is rightfully worried about.

In terms of why people love AI art. AI bros see it the same way people saw Flash in the 90s without understanding the key difference between the two. Flash still requires you to create an animation from scratch, only difference from cel was it was designed to have the whole process be digital while AI already has the stolen images and all you need to do is prompt it to mash the pictures together.

The mainstream animation industry is fucked but with how web animation is less corporate, people will likely move over to the net for animation. Helps that we have a new wave going on right now with Glitch Productions at the leads and nostalgia for 2000s-2010s webtoons becoming more prominent.

Also, the only AI girlfriend I approve is Glados.
