Sort of doing a bit of an experiment utilizing a posterization method from Krita that could basically turn down the amount of pixels that were in a thing, I took advantage of that using a little bit of photography on my part to make the GBA element and I'm hoping that the next step is to incorporate a totally different element in the screen of the GBA.

It's a bit on the experimental side but if I manage to pull this off it could be insanely interesting to pull off something different with a non traditional method of making pixel art applied with traditional methods of making it.iu_1526703_3993712.webp

Pic related using my own GBA with this.

Response to: Is the Switch 2 gonna be the Wii U 2? Posted January 17th, 2026 in Video Games

At 1/17/26 08:39 AM, Lynkronized wrote:I mean it sold well as months go by, but not as strong as the OG Switch.

I did hesitated to own it myself due to the price being so steep, game-key carts on third-party titles, the Switch 2 Editions from the previous titles which i can just buy on the OG Switch and the leadership at Nintendo are lacking customers first with this new hybrid handheld console, i'm not saying that the Switch 2 is bad, i mean it did improve a lot from OG Switch and it's got a few bangers, but it REALLY got people scratching their heads after the direct and launch, so they'll just proly stick with the hybrid they already own. So it may depends why that's a reason it's falling short on a holiday season.

While the Wii U did flop, it did held up to it's legacy being one of the most misunderstood console despite the name and marketing not clicking with everyone for a time who thought it was an add-on for the Wii, it's still entertaining enough with the best features and apps in any console that screams personality than the Switch which was a downgrade.

So... i highly doubt this this would be the next Wii U. And no, it's not gonna be the next "Year of Luigi".

Well that's the thing, the marketing of the Wii U didn't help it to stand out and everyone felt that it's what the Wii should have been. But you can't really blame nintendo when they have a specific philosophy in mind with blue ocean low costs at the time it came out. (Remember, this was when Iwata was still alive)

The problem I have with the Switch 2 is that it's very anti-consumer. No, I'm not going to pay 500$ when that's half my rent when right now nothing really justifies me getting it when I could fix my old switch and go back to playing Smash Ultimate and Mario Kart 8. That's also keeping in mind that Nintendo is literally asking that you pay for a subscription to use a fucking mic and a button and has a crummy ass tutorial to explain some shit.

That's also considering they're asking me to lock in my games to one console.

Response to: Why is 8 bit pixel art the 'standard' for indie games? Posted January 17th, 2026 in Video Games

I was thinking this. Most indie games are probably 16 bit on the lowest end. Think your Mana games and Zelda during Minish Cap. As someone else mentioned, probably to emulate the SNES days. 8 bit is what? Gameboy Color?

Gameboy Color and NES, also the Sega Game Gear and perhaps a few other consoles from the 3rd generation of video game consoles.

This is the thing, anything that has to do with the bit power comes down to the processing power and limitations of a console. While that does put limitations on what colors are used, how many, and the size of the sprites and number of frames used per animation, it has very little to do with the graphics in of themselves and more so the hardware limitations of the console you are working on.

Hence why there are specific set of rules on what you can do to create sprites in that hardware. Obviously, once you know the rules you can break them like Capcom did with Megaman, but that come from a deep understanding of what the NES is capable of since the sprites in those games are actually layered.

I hope that explains it. I'm going off of what I remember learning from The Spriters Resource and a few other communities I know of where I first began learning pixel art, but if there is something I'm missing and/or am incorrect on then other members are welcome to correct me on that or add on to what I'm describing.

It doesn't help when people actively think that all pixel art is "8-bit" either. That perception helps no one.

Response to: Is the Switch 2 gonna be the Wii U 2? Posted January 16th, 2026 in Video Games

Switch 2 will outsell the Wii U only because the marketing isn't as confusing where people thought it was some add on instead of a full on console.

However, I don't think long term it will out do the OG switch. You could make an argument that the next smash will make or break the console but lets be real, just because Smash 4 happened to be on the Wii U didn't make the sales any better and I doubt that the next new Smash will be as good as Ultimate in that regard.

This might end up being my thing to post for Pixel Day tbh.

A new WIP for pixel art related things, hoping to go for a Y2K Aesthetic.

Also, using my own colors since it's been a hot minute since I made my own palette. Would love some feedback on this.

(FYI if anyone has feedback, comments or criticism for me, please let me know because I would really appreciate if people gave me some tips here and there)

No.

Besides the standard for shock value isn't the same as it was in the days of Manhunt. The only way that shock value is gonna be there is if they manage to make an M game with a fully depicted sex scene.

Vailskibum doesn't really give much serious thought to news in the animation industry or pop culture.

In some cases it can be good for short form content BUT in other cases not so much.

At least with Saberspark, as much of an old goober he is does try to put effort into his content's scripts. I'm not saying people should like one over the other or either of them at all but objectively speaking, they are youtubers at the end of the day.

Regardless all the same, its still nothing new or relevabt to add. Its just random Chinese or Indian people hijacking algorithms to get money with low effort content.

While I agree that fundamentals could be gone over again in the process of renewal to hit that level of mastery, I think the real issue comes down to consistency with those fundamentals.

Admittingly that is a challenge for me too, so I'm not going to be around the bush and say that things like proportions, perspective and anatomy are the easiest thing to keep doing each time. But here you're able to make all these clean photos and nice details only for the veiwer to get pulled out of it because of those things not being up to par. Unless there is intent to why you're breaking those rules it won't do you any good.

You know what you can do with detail but in short, it doesn't mean a damn thing if you can't make sure you're nailing that every time.

While I do agree that the perspective could be pushed to something more dynamic, the biggest draw for me is the fact that you have a real awesome energy that could really be utilized in a way that could make this kick ass to an insane degree.

If you plan on doing a Ver. 2 of this Sketch bring that energy in and consider pushing Zim's expression, I think you could really pull off something that could very well move toward a final piece in that respect.

Well imho I think you got something with your work so I'm willing to vouch on grounds you got a good amount of technical skill, from what I can tell.

That aside, personally I favor Newgrounds over most mainstream social media on grounds that I can at least interact with people and build a following as long as I'm utilizing whatever skills I got to contribute to projects. Granted, there's been some bumps in the road here and I've had my share of rodeos on this site but all in all I prefer it because it takes me back to a time when it wasn't about algorithms and discord chats.

If I do use other platforms, bluesky for a few quick posts and for people to see what I'm up to and instagram for the mainstream audience. I don't really need anything more than that.

At 12/27/25 11:46 AM, Magicci wrote:idk man, i feel people, specially artists, don't really know how to voice their discontent towards AI on an appealing and convincing way, i mean, don't get me wrong, am the biggest anti gen AI on this site, but it is true that freaking out and shitting on everything and everyone related to AI won't solve anything, i've talked with plenty of "pro" gen AI people and most of them will end up telling you something along the lines of "i don't really like AI but i think most artists are really obnoxious" or even "i like it cause it piss off artists", this is already a won battle in the long run, but as i said, we are missing a crucial step witch is convincing people and finding good and appealing ways to take them into the artists side, it doesn't even has to be a serious or realistic thing, but something funny or that it hits pro AI mfs close to home, without being corny or pretentious, should be more than enough

I feel like this is why I've adopted a skepticism stance.

If I'm being honest, a lot of the Pro-Ai people you talked to are probably the Ai-Bro stereotypes who aren't going to listen from the sounds of it.

If you want to have a convincing argument the one thing you need to do is lay out the concerns and issues Ai has without coming off as alarmist and those arguments need to be curated in a manner that points out where the hard skills of being an artist cannot be replaced by gen-ai, and it needs to be directed to the companies using it and the supervisors people work for.

From what I have seen there are very few people able to articulate those things and direct their concerns to the right people. If you don't have the finesse to do it and if you don't know your audience, it's not going to amount to much.

Response to: Thoughs on Bluesky so far? Posted December 26th, 2025 in Art

While we've decided to bump this topic back into relevancy, these are my thoughts as of the end of the year.

I found Bluesky to be convenient. Not necessarily as just some alternative to Elon's Shitter but because after I found a widget for putting a BlueSky Add-on VIA HTML I can make short posts quickly if it relates to anything I'm doing with my website, twitch, or even YouTube content without having to post a fuck ton of content I don't need on my website.

That being said.

I could potentially say that I don't need BlueSky and remove it at any point, only because most of my followers are on Newgrounds or Instagram, but it makes things a bit more convenient for me on a functional level. I rarely bother to scroll much on it anyways because in retrospect I don't really need to dive into the political rabbit holes that it has where people want to have their own little echo chambers as much as I use it if I need to make a quick post.

Response to: Twitter controversy Posted December 26th, 2025 in Art

I jumped ship when Elon bought it and way before it became fashionable to do so. If I were you, I'd just take my leave and use an alternative. You'll save yourself a headache.
