I've never watched this show but something possessed me to draw this lol
Ok, done! Here's the link to the finished drawing
Drew it at a larger resolution, but in case you're unable to resize it, I downsized it myself if that helps:

How transparent does the image have to be? I was going to add a simple ocean vignette in the background (made a small sketch of what I was thinking below), but if that messes with the final composition, then I'll omit it.

Could I reserve Mayumi and Raiko?
I might reserve another later, but I'll wait so I can make sure I finish these two first.
A bit of a non-standard pick, but could I draw a bakekujira for this collab? Not one from any specific series, but drawing one based off of the original youkai itself. Hope it's ok if it's not based off of one specific piece of media.
(For context: the bakekujira is a plague-spreading ghostly whale skeleton youkai)
I'd like to join! Though I do have one possible issue: How much of the face has to be visible? The MS I'm hoping to has a blank face, so I'm not sure how I'd portray that without some sort of full-face mask.
Hope they're not too inaccurate, they're hard to find references for.
Ay I'm always up for broken telephone-like collabs like this
Count me in

Alright! I finished my entries!
I'd like to take the unnamed Sonic Robot (cell 60 on the sheet) if you don't mind
This looks interesting, I'll bite!

Hopefully it's fine to hold them all in a batch like this lol
Will try to draw them quickly, though I will ask, how much can we diverge from the OG design? Mostly asking since Mibblie is rock-shaped and I might exaggerate that a little, and I was going to make Sunutek look massive

A few years ago I did some coding in Blender for both a very simple 3d and 2d platformer (like baby's first type stuff). Around the same time I was learning HTML/CSS/Javascript (all at once), but never quite got the hang of Javascript.
This is very different though, so not sure how well those skills carry over. Again it's been a few years so I'm rusty.
Also reason for not using Blender is that, in my experience, Blender tends to run very laggy on some games and I am not skilled enough to know how to optimize that.
To try and answer your original question as best I can: I'd stay away from "UI" tutorials even though that is what you're trying to build. Godot UI tutorials are going to be more about menu layout etc etc, which is not what you really need. In my opinion, you probably better off finding as simple a "babi's first platformer" tutorial. That would--hopefully--show input, switching frames of animation, etc etc. Your challenge would then be to take those pieces, break them up, and reassemble them into what you've described. Like I said, it's a bit ambitious for a first go.
Alternative to Flash (just throwing this out there) they might be tools that can do this that output HTML. Again, you're basically just swapping things in response to user input. If something like hypercard were still around... actually... maybe Scratch could do this?
Fair enough! I'll look into Hypercard-likes and Flash then, too.
Side-note: I was looking into game styles similar to what i might be trying to do, and noticed I'm basically making a really weird and stripped down version tile-based exploration game, so I'll be looking into those avenues too.
To preface: I've done very little programming before, and I want to be able to make a gallery for an upcoming collab I want to host, but want to make sure I can make this interactive gallery beforehand, so I don't end up having to figure it out while the project is on-going and end up being unable to deliver.
I decided to use Godot as my engine of choice, as I heard it was easy to use.
As for the actual help I need...

I actually have an idea for an interface already! I just have no idea how to search up specifically what I'm trying to do, and don't really know what specifically what I kind of tutorials I should be looking for.

It's a bit chicken-scratchy, so I'll explain:
Basically, the left of the screen would show the entire evolution line of a creature, and you'd use WASD to explore the evolutions, and ZX to change creature, which would scroll to show the starter creature.
The right side of the screen would be a detailed view of the creature, and give an artist name (which you could click to go to their NG page), as well as what modifiers were used by the artist to evolve the creature.
Here's an example of a scroll to the right if it gives a better idea of how stuff may change.

Hypothetically, it'd be nice for the list on the bottom left to not have all starter sprites loaded at all times, and it could just call from a list and 'spawn' the creature when needed on-screen, and 'despawn' it when not shown. I'm also not sure how to make it so the different evolution trees would be navigable like shown in the pictures above. I assume the right side would be easier since it'd just be spawning in a still image with a hyperlink to the artist's NG page.
[EDIT] I just realized: I forgot to mention what the fusion arrows would do! Since they'd switch which evolution tree you'd be looking at, I was going to map it to either the Q or E key, which would then 'teleport' you to the creature and appropriate evolution tree it fused into or fused from. (Q for fused from, E for fused to)
I'm assuming my issues are both easier and harder than I'm thinking right now, and sorry if my explanations have been hard to understand. I can elaborate if required. Thanks in advance for anyone who decides to help me try and figure this out.
Sorry if these are pretty basic things to figure out, my google-fu ain't the best lol.
Drew a lil guy for this.
Here's it in better quality since IDK how much NG compresses stuff in forum posts
Ok! Second girl is done! Thanks for having me in this collab, can't wait to see what the rest of you guys cooked up!
Ayyy, sorry for the delay, I got rally busy during July.
Hopefully this version works better!
Gonna work on the Gargoyle girl soon. Had an idea for her design since before the Bunyip girl lol
Might be being a little quick to the draw, but
Would it be ok if I took 145-150?
Bro if you can do something like this
I edited it for you
.
or you can follow something like this if you want to create a new illustration:
Oh ok ok. I see, sorry.
I think I'll redraw since the one I did before doesn't quite 'fit' the 'animal manual'-type style.

The drawing was very good, but as I said in the post, the character has to be in transparent png. I think I can do that, maybe leave just the character and the water. However, if you have a transparent png just for the character, it would be great.
If it's not possible, can I edit it to add it to the file?
Ah, sorry I misunderstood. Would you rather them be full-body drawings, sort of like biology books or those old Mythical Monster books then?
Alright! The Bunyip Girl is done! Hopefully I did this right, hope y'all don't mind that she's in heavy shadow, just thought that fit this piece better.
Name and Bio are on the linked post, so dw, I didn't forget to add those.
NOTE: Submission is rated M, so be careful opening this in public lol
I'm getting close to finishing one of mine, so just wanted to know in advance if I should post the art here directly, or post it to my account then link it here?
I am working on my girls lol
Just posting that I had to mentally figure out what a bunyip even WAS (my prior mental image was apparently wrong), so here, have a drawing of what I decided a bunyip looks like based off of the MANY incongruent descriptions.

Just a bonus. Now I can ACTUALLY draw the monster girl lol
Hey! Wanted to know if I could take the Bunyip [55] and/or Gargoyle [35] slot(s) if they're still available? Thanks in advance.
Decided to go for the more modern/later-designed toilet machines that have become more common since roughly episode 50. Hopefully this is still acceptable lol.

FR though, a lot of the larger machines have some pretty cool designs.
Honestly, any excuse to draw a creature is a good one for me lol.
Here's some of my stuff if you'd be so willing to have me:
Have a lil ogre spider for the coming spooky month :)

Hopefully I ain't too late with this submission:
