I'm starting with mine since I don't know:


mmmm the comparison is moreso related to the colour palettes n not so much the characters, but the colours remind me of great god grove , very warm coloured with greenish-orange skies the artstyle itself bares a very faint similarity with the original smile for me artstyle , base level comparison coming from simple shape usage but with much thicker lines, the fine colour abbirition of the lineart in the first image gives way to that comparison a wee bit more however lol


the style as a whole reminds me very loosley of something trying to mimic the aura of an early-mid 2010s show that aired on smth like kix but I honest to god cannot put my finger quite on what specifically comes to mind...


so for now I leave it as lol

alot of the textures are still quite buggy, not quite mirrored properly , I think i need to find a better way to optimise my sheets

whilst selecting faces in the UV editing tab, paste the front faces first, then the back faces, and maybe the side ones if necessary


I want to say its not terrible for a first attempt but... it sure as hell could be better lol

I recieved a bit of advice from a server about UV unwrapping...and i dont think this is it?? I dunno know, im still very new to this.


I was told to find the seams on the model, then unwrap it, done n dusted but, the hair model is absolutely fucked (the weird triangle mess in the bottom left corner of the UV sheet) and I have no clue what that big black square is

im guessing this is NOT how you do it, id presume thered be some major lighting issues if I was to run this through unity or just...add lighting- to this


I want something like this , but I dont know how I plot it onto my model per say, im going to give it a shot whilst i wait for some more advice but i dont have a turnaround reference to reference the proportions off of, I made this from scratch n very loosely eyeballed an actual tunaround for the character


if the worst comes to the worst, im considering just scrapping the whole thing n trying again with a turnaround model sketch to boot

So what is this feedback thread exactly? simple, its kinda like an art thread but specifically for when me, the poor damsel in distress cries out for some feedback on (insert art piece here) as I wait for my knight in shining armour to come and rescue me with the feedback I oh so desperately needed 🌈

I should've clarified it's the pose and hair, the shoe is lined differently cause I need reference for where it's at. I'm also changing the shape of the sleeves from now on and in this drawing he's not supposed to have those joint lines because it's a version of him as a fairy instead of a ventriloquist dummy

I see, i getcha tho now, I still think the legs are a bit too thick and short (primarily the one behind the front leg) and the front leg looks like its kicked just a bit too far up his bum lol i think just lengthening them should kill two birds with one stone tho as it should make the legs look less stocky


I dont know what to say about the hand/arm given that is not been drawn in yet, im guessing the characters supposed to be discussing, or arguing something to another character? the intentions are currently unclear so i cant say much in regards to that


and the head still feels rather unclear, maybe its just me, but the picture below is how im currently reading it I know the hair would swoop over a bit so it might make the facial features look a bit closer together than they normally are but I still think theres room for a little more width in the front of the face

whats the main issue here?


im spotting a few potential issues here but i dont know whats your main concern right now? ill note some things that im seein tho-


her eyebrows and both legs look really thick in the 1st drawing

said legs are also missing a line joint (for her knees)

the tips of her shoes are lined when in the main/reference pic they arent

I also dont think youd see the curve of her hair from this angle, it makes her forehead look bigger than it needs to be

that, and the sleeves of her shirt are the wrong shape.

about the head thing id probably recommend making her head just a bit wider to 1, fit her reference headshape a bit more and 2, give a little more room for her facial features to breathe

urggh, practicing some more 3d, trying to make a low poly model...note to self, to actually take the time to draw a rough reference for my model next time lmao , this was from scratch, with some very loose eyeballing from a ref sheet of the character


prolly gonna pop off to bed tho, got really carried away modeling this i had no idea that it was about one o clock, i dont know how long ive spent trying to model this damm thing coming to think about it lol


the hair is seriously pissing me off rn i hate trying to model hair , ive only done it twice but thats already enough for me to loathe the process entirely lmao again, dunno how many people lurk in threads but if anyone knows anything about low poly 3d modeling can i have some feedback on making/shaping the hair to the head???

ok might be a bit of a hot take here but personally, I really dislike drawing teeth, realistically or stylised, I find them to be overrated as hell like, I love talking about the details and drawing unique features on said teeth...in theory- but in practice i find drawing and lining them up to be a bit of a slog not gonna lie lol


that wont stop me from drawing them for the sake of character details but still, not really all that fun not gonna lie lol

2. I said no, but you really should finish the design before we jump to conclusions. I know you're doing it to fix mistakes and all that at once to save time... but there's a big difference between what a sketch can tell you and a finished piece.

Ok so like...its still not finished but, his linearts been cleaned up n i roughly threw on his clothes n a splash of colour, by any means dose this help in any regards? I honestly dont see much of a difference to be fair, it raises alota questions about how im gonna add his necklace on without distrupting the flow of his figure and fixing up his coat sleeves lol, but nothing really about his suspect vibes i wouldnt say

Ah you see here, in his old/current ref he dose indeed have perfect teeth lol Im glad someone seems to have taken note about the teeth though,


I was considering playing around with the tooth-gap cuz someone drew art of him once with a tooth gap for some reason, idk why but it really stuck with me lol


In my concept redesigns I got of him he still has the gap, it adds character but... honestly so dose the plain teeth lol your right, especially given his current whereabouts/living conditions something there just doesnt add up: His coat n clothes are a bit dusty n worn out his skins all sorts of diseased yet his hair is clean and his teeth are unusually good (minus the radioactive green tint)


ill certainly reconsider the teeth bit lol because I have been second guessing myself about it for that reason (and also because I fear it distrupts his face in a weird way lol)

Made a little moodboard for my college project, always one of the first things we do is make a moodboard, I want bright overstimulating joyus colours and patterns all over, still finding it a little hard to properly piece all my current thoughts together but I think this is a somewhat decent layout to reference at the moment

wip for a little extra drawing for the ref sheet, slow and on hold cuz of college work but like...heres a bissy lol drawing him happy (for once) with his beloved pet rat cornflake, to help contrast with his moody n miserable face seen throughout the rest of the ref sheet

Both drawings are mine but I'd love for the backgrounds I draw of nature to fit the same vibes as the background I drew of the room


gonna be real, thats still quite vauge lol but luckily I see theres a little extra context from when vinity chimed in, im sure shes probably said a majority of the things youd need to do to achieve a more UPA esque style, but yeah


Id recommend using a lasso tool to block out simple shapes for things such as trees and clouds, and maybe just some simple square tools (with some tilting) to get the basepoint for the buildings


Id also keep the gradients and the lineart to a minimum, only using that to block out things like windows or defining lines

for the most part ur thinking in simple, geometric shapes, with some slight slants to add a bit of cartoonish flare to said elements
