Well I am not trying to directly say it's edgy, just that it may still have some edge to it and just because people say something is not as bad as it used to be doesn't mean its "sanitized." But tbh, being edgy or less edgy than you used to be doesn't make you bad or worse, it just means things have changed!

People who complain about "edge" has the same energy as people who complain about "woke". The definitions for both slang terms are very much neutral in nature if not positive.


Woke has to do with simply being very aware of corruption and how things could be so much better.


Edge has to do with expressing an idea in a unique and thought-provoking way, perhaps even unconventionally. There is nothing special about being a bigot; people like that are a-dime-a-dozen.

I think it's solely because newgrounds was, for most people, remembered AS the edgy site. If I didn't revisit this site due to fnf back In 2021, I would've lived my whole life going "oh, newgrounds! The site where I went to play games such as skull kid and kill pedobear 2!" It gets a little irritating hearing the same talking points come from these people but I also understand that to the average normie, this is the porn and gore flash game site.

once I started on NG, I was hooked especially since it meant I can look at creativity while also liking anime titties for free. these guys who think newgrounds is bad just haven't came out of the wall they live in.

the general public is so uninformed about NG it baffles me that people just blindly believe this understanding of the site. but then again, "the general public" if you look at its track record, is both dishonest and malicious. i doubt they will ever care to be honest in this regard either. NG could be all E rated and the perception wouldn't change. "the public sucks" -george carlin.

Yeah you're right. But then again we got shit like Pico's School, but also every site has something like that in some form. Twitter has a degenerate caveman fuckboi AI, Reddit is Reddit, Bluesky has really edgy users and Discord has roleplay Servers.


I think I would take Pico’s School over Twitter’s CP machine.

Newgrounds def has a history of more edgier videos and games from the old days of the internet. (But to be fair many website were like that, it’s just that Newgrounds is older then stuff like YouTube and was like a main hub to play flash games, watch animations, and what not.)


But it’s still calmed down a lot since then and is a pretty chill website from my experience.
